Visionary Led Motus Through Successful Merger and Acquisition; Dedication to People and Culture Drives Company’s Continued Growth
BOSTON, Mass., May 3, 2018 – Motus, the premier vehicle management and reimbursement platform, announced today that CEO Craig Powell was named winner of a Silver Stevie® Award for Executive of the Year in the Computer Services category in the 16th Annual American Business Awards. The nation’s premier business awards program, which received more than 3,700 nominations, recognized Craig for his vision and leadership in guiding Motus through successful realignment and rebranding.
Craig was selected based on his work with investment firm Thoma Bravo to acquire and merge Motus with Runzheimer International, creating the market-leading all-in-one vehicle management platform that gives mobile workers immediate access to the tools they need to succeed – precise mileage tracking, reimbursements based on real-time, location-based data and behavior technology that improves driver safety and identifies driver training needs.
“I’m honored and humbled to be named an Executive of the Year. But ironically it isn’t me that deserves this recognition, it is the talented and dedicated individuals that I get to call my friends and colleagues who have made this possible,” said Powell. “It is the achievements of Motus over the course of this past year that have resulted in this recognition. And, none of those milestones could have been achieved without the hard-working team members of Motus who wake up focused on making great things happen for our company and customers.”
Leading up to the acquisition and merger, Craig was instrumental in positioning Motus for continued growth. He and his team developed and released several industry-moving solutions, including a first-of-its-kind integration of beacon technology to significantly reduce battery drain for its mileage tracking mobile app and Motus Driver Safety Solutions to reduce collision rates and keep drivers safe. Motus customers have responded positively to these innovations – the company’s customer base grew by 20% over the first six months of 2017, it achieved a Net Promoter Score of +36 and more than 95% of legacy Motus customers fully transitioned to its mobile enterprise platform.
Outside of the office, Craig serves as Board Chair for Your Grateful Nation, which helps special operation forces veterans successfully transition out of the military and into top careers, and as a founding board member of Beat the Streets, a wrestling program providing at-risk kids with discipline and structure.
Craig’s dedication to these causes has helped shape his belief in building a purpose-driven culture within his own company. Craig has reinvented the Motus culture to foster top-to-bottom alignment, establishing Motus as a place where employees want to work because they feel they are doing meaningful work for a company that helps them succeed at work and in life.
“The nominations submitted for the 2018 American Business Awards were outstanding. The competition was intense, and those recognized as Stevie Award winners should be immensely proud of this accomplishment,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards.
More than 200 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners. Judges’ comments about Craig included, “Craig Powell illustrates today’s successful executive; Out in front, motivated and smart,” and “He is a visionary who leads companies to become authorities in their respective industries.”
