Motus Recognized for Helping its Team, Customers and Community Navigate the “New Normal” and Work Life Balance
BOSTON, Mass., September 18, 2020 – Motus, the definitive leader in reimbursement solutions for businesses with mobile-enabled workforces, was named the winner of a Stevie® Award for Most Valuable Corporate Response during the COVID-19 crisis in the 17th Annual International Business Awards®. The world’s premier business awards program, which received more than 3,800 nominations from organizations in 63 nations and territories, recognized Motus for its concerted efforts to help its team, customers and wider community understand business implications and ensure mental well-being during the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
Throughout the uncertainty and anxiety of the pandemic, Motus operated with transparency and enhanced communication across the company with weekly all-company calls, people ops “check-ins” and open Q&As. Motus also fostered initiatives to form a community and maintain its strong company culture through shared experiences. In addition to activities that became mainstream in today’s remote work environment (i.e. virtual happy hours, town halls), Motus developed programs that included Instagram take-overs to provide glimpses into team members’ lives; the Musical Magic of Motus, where musically inclined team members provide family entertainment through videoconferencing; and Munchkins of Motus Story Time, where the older children of Motus read to the younger children three days per week. Motus also transformed its blog to serve as a hub of resources to help its team, customers and wider community navigate their “new normal” work and home lives.
“The health and well-being of our people is always our top priority. With the pandemic affecting our personal and professional lives on such a big scale, the most important thing for us was to ensure that our team was safe, happy and could address any challenges that might arise with a lack of day-to-day connection with coworkers in a shared space,” said Lori Christiansen, Vice President of Marketing at Motus. “These initiatives were invaluable in helping our team find balance and ensure mental well-being during the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, and also resulted in stronger dialogue, quicker resolutions and a comfort that everyone is doing their best to help each other through uncertain times.”
Motus also accelerated the release of its Remote Work Reimbursement solution to provide tools for the rapidly expanding number of people and businesses who shifted to a remote work environment. The company applied the solution to its internal team during the initial transition to working from home, reimbursing each team member for their remote work costs based on their individual location.
“Despite the unprecedented impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on organizations and working people worldwide, the number and quality of nominations we received in this year’s International Business Awards attests to the continued outstanding performance of many organizations. The commitment we’ve seen through these nominations to maintaining the success, health and safety of employees, customers and communities is truly impressive,” said Stevie Awards President Maggie Gallagher.
Judges praised Motus for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, stating: “Motus continues to push the envelope as an example of what is possible when an organization has a clear vision and mission. Collectively, the response to COVID-19 by Motus is exceptional, and demonstrates the care, community-focus and overall good nature of the organization. Building bridges, developing sustainable tools, sharing ideas and helping others all stand out as reasons why Motus is successful in efforts.”
