Categories: Company Culture Motus News

Earlier this year we shared the news that Motus and Runzheimer would join forces to bring the mobile workforce management market best-in-class technology and expertise. I’m proud to say that we’ve made steady progress over the last few months to offer companies with mobile employees a new standard for vehicle reimbursement and mobile workforce management.

It’s been great working with these two exceptional teams and in recent weeks, forming a unified Motus team, invigorated to deliver cutting-edge technology to the market. We’ve built the foundation for the combined company and we’re excited to share what’s to come. The future looks bright for Motus and most importantly — for our customers and partners.

As we look forward, we will continue to innovate and find ways to simplify the lives of mobile workers and their managers. It was our mission then, and it’s our mission now.

Q: Let’s recap, what was announced?

A: In January 2018 Thoma Bravo backed the Motus leadership team and myself to lead Runzheimer through the same product and infrastructure transformation that we led CRS (Corporate Reimbursement Services) through in 2013-2014 as CRS transitioned to becoming Motus.

Q: Can you tell us more about why Thoma Bravo made this investment to acquire and merge Motus and Runzheimer?

A: The objective is to provide Runzheimer’s customers with a smooth path to the Motus mobile technology platform. This allows us to invest further in strengthening the already strong relationships with Runzheimer customers and introduce new product innovations and beneficial solutions to the combined customer base.

Q: What makes the Motus leadership team confident in the merger’s benefit to mobile employees (end users)?

A: Before we announced the acquisition and subsequent merger, 40,000 Motus end users had transitioned from the Runzheimer platform to the Motus Platform. While the time savings and cost benefit to mobile employees and our customers is clear, these customers are amongst the happiest group of our Motus user base. The ability to provide mobile workers with a stable and effective solution and eliminate manual and time-consuming tasks for their managers has resulted in improving their work lives, saving them valuable time and reducing frustrations during their work days – which is our ultimate goal as an organization.

Q: What exactly are the benefits to customers?

A: They get the best of both worlds relative to the vehicle reimbursement market. We’ve combined the complementary strengths of the two companies to further innovate the product platform, improve time-to-market for new offerings and empower true mobile workforce optimization. We will continue to deliver best-in-class solutions and the advanced tools businesses need to support a growing mobile workforce.

Q: What technology enhancements will Motus bring to the platform?

A: Our customers will soon benefit from our extended technology investments into the Motus Platform and the Motus App. In the near term, we will be releasing a new Business Intelligence and analytics tool, more battery-saving enhancements to the Motus App and a comprehensive driver safety program to help safeguard the mobile workforce.

Q: What changes should customers expect?

A: Our team is focused on delivering these technology enhancements and our customers can expect to hear more from us soon about our product roadmap. If our customers have questions related to the merger, they can reach out to our team anytime and we’ll get them answered.
